The Company announced the third quarter net revenues of US$222.3 million, a 35% increase sequentially and were similar to year- over-year. The sequential revenue increase was because of better demand in all product lines.

Gross margin for the third quarter 2014 was 17%, higher than 6% in the second quarter 2014 and lower than 18% in the third quarter of 2013. Gross profit was US$37.9 million. Gross margin increased because of higher utilization and the reversal of previous inventory write-down.

Net income before tax was US$-36.5 million, compared to NT$-1,800 million in the second quarter of 2014 and NT$-907 million in the third quarter of 2013. For the third quarter of 2014, the estimated tax provision was US$0.03 million, the net income after tax was US$-36.6 million.

Macronix stressed that sales in the third quarter from ROM revenue accounted for 32% of net sales, a decrease of 16% year-over-year and a sequential increase of 181%. The unit shipments of ROM decreased 27% year-over-year and increased 89% sequentially.

Flash products accounted for 57% of net sales, an increase of 6% year-over-year and a sequential increase of 8%. The unit shipments of Flash increased 17% year-over-year and increased 17% sequentially.

Macronix chairman Wu optimistic about the shipment of NAND Flash product next year, expected to double. He said that 75nm SLC NAND Flash products have been in volume production, the expected proportion of NAND Flash products in the fourth quarter this year will equal to third quarter.

Wu pointed that 36nm 2Gb and 4Gb NAND Flash products have been certified and have send samples to customers, which will be produced in new 12-inch factory, expected to grow rapidly in the second half of next year.
