IEK pointed that Asia-Pacific automotive semiconductor market always dominated by Japanese ICs suppliers and other advanced countries. In the recent years, the demands of Japanese domestic electrics market is still in the doldrums, but the vehicle and industrial applications are increasing, push Japanese IC firms in tandem with this trend to pursue profit in the car market.

IEK took Rohm as an example.

In recent years, Rohm is committed to the development of automotive business, take vehicle market as a major source of profit and raise capital expansion. In addition to increasing the amount of domestic production and semiconductor wafer manufacturing base, but also to invest about $ 130 million to set the automotive chip posterior segment packaging factory, expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

Furthermore, Rohm reduced the switching losses of silicon IGBT to 20% s, increased the drive frequency, minimized the module size and improved power conversion efficiency.

IEK stressed that like Rohm, Japanese semiconductor suppliers will continue to elaborate in automotive electronics market by the experience and technology which accumulated from the consumer electronics, with the trends in energy efficiency, capacity, energy storage.
