According to a report by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, the Type C for the new Macbook is being supplied by Foxlink, whereas the Type C connector for the Chromebook is being manufactured by Hon Hai.

Foxlink CEO Guo Tai-Chiang stated that Type C will bring many advantages for connectors; furthermore, in the coming first half of the year it will take off. He is very optimistic that Type C will bring about a replacement boom and that switching to the new specifications will bring about business opportunities for terminal products.

In addition, the new type of Macbook exclusively uses Type C, and the Apple Store is launching five types of specifications for adapters. The Chromebook has two Type C jacks; therefore, the demand for external converters will also increase considerably.

Along with increasing demand for connectors and converters, the demand for control chips is also rapidly increasing, and Taiwanese companies ASMedia Technology Inc., Genesys Logic, Etron Technology Inc., and Alcor Micro Corp. have prepared related solutions.
