Inventec Eyes on Handheld and Servers; India Factory to Activate in Q3

Handheld smart devices and servers are still Inventec’s main products this year. Currently the proportion of sales for handheld devices has already reached the double digits, and subsidiary company Inventec Appliances’ General Manager David Ho stated that with this year’s growth in demand from all kinds of customers, including cellphones, handheld smart devices, and network terminals, there have been approximately 50 million units shipped this year. This year’s anticipated sales target is for shipments of between approximately 65 and 70 million units.

For servers, Data Centers will the drivers of this year’s growth, and Inventec anticipates double-digit growth in the number of units shipped. A fair number of these shipments will be for name brand OEMs, with a 3% to 5% growth rate in the number of shipments. However, growth rates of 10% and above are expected in the United States and China regional areas.

For PC OEMs, General Manager Huang Guo-jun stated that currently, non-PC products comprise 20% to 30%, and in the future, PCs will gradually fall to below 60%. However, shipments of PC-related products are still expected to have higher growth rates than for last year.

Inventec is also constructing a factory in India in order to satisfy the demands of Indian customers. Huang Guo-jun stated that currently the factory in India is in the initial phases of development, and it is not expected to begin operations until the second or third quarter. He emphasized that building the local infrastructure will still require a little time, and that there is a lag behind China in terms of material supplies. However, the market in India has great potential, and Inventec is developing diverse products in India, such as PCs and solar power.
