Massive MIMO uses a large numbers of antenna elements, working coherently, to generate steerable signal beams for multiple simultaneous users. Massive MIMO is a challenging, but very promising new technology for 5G mobile communications. Massive MIMO promises to improve spectral efficiency, increase capacity and improve energy efficiency.
"Southeast University is one of China's major research institutions on 5G and Keysight is an internationally renowned test and measurement equipment company," said Professor Hong Wei, Dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering, China Southeast University and the director of State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves. "Both organizations will cooperate on 5G Massive MIMO system research measurement technology that will promote the development of 5G research."
"This is another example of our work with a leading research institution in 5G Wireless," said Yan Zhongyi, Keysight Greater China vice present and general manager. "This collaboration represents a win-win for Keysight and China Southeast University. We are excited to be part of this critical 5G research."
The research collaboration is based on China Southeast University's advanced Massive MIMO technologies and is supported by Keysight's University Relationship Research Program. This research will help Southeast University address test and measurement issues in Massive MIMO's system design and implementation. It also will allow Keysight to accelerate and deepen technical insights in simulation, test and measurement methodologies of 5G Massive MIMO, specifically the massive antenna array and multi-channel phase shifters' calibration and measurement.
