Taiwan Memory Industry to Raise with 5G and AI Era
Is it time for Taiwan's memory industry to catch up with the United States and c South Korea? Perhaps not many people ha...
Compared with NAND Flash memory, NOR Flash memory has higher speed in terms of random reading rate, but slower in writing. It mainly used in the system processing code storage and the capacity is also smaller. Due to antomotive electronics have higher standard for reading speed, making it ideal for using NOR Flash memory. With the rise of the smart car, the needs for NOR Flash memory are substantial growth.
Currently, Taiwan's NOR Flash memory suppliers are in efforts to develop the new generation of NOR Flash memory products for automotive applications, including Macronix has launched SPI OctaFlash MX25UM NOR Flash memory products, Winbond has cooperated with Micron in producing XTRMFlash memory.
Macronix is currently the world's third largest supplier of NOR Flash in the automotive industry, is hoping to be able to jump to second place within two years.
Macronix just launched its new NOR Flash memory product “OctaFlash MX25UM” which is the industry's fastest SPI NOR Flash memory. It is in line with high transfer efficiency, high-capacity and high reliability for vehicle telematics, data transfer and digital cameras.
Macronix OctaFlash product series uses 55-nanometer process technology with three capacity Specifications of 256Mb, 512Mb and 1Gb.
Winbond Electronics has entered the world's top ten automakers supply chain, to become one of the memory suppliers of Telematics and ADAS.
According to the Winbond’s third quarter revenue report, its Specialty DRAM products accounted for 54% of quarterly revenue, where the vehicle electronic applications was the main growth momentum.
