AUO Lifts New Display Products for 2016; AMOLED Lights Up

TAIPEI, Taiwan - AUO(AU Optronics Corp) yesterday held new products and technologies announcement conference at its headquarters in Hsinchu, Taiwan, where the company showcased a new 65-inch borderless flat ALCD TV panel, Free-form Cutting curved 25-inch automotive touch panel, 12.3-inch Full HD AMOLED display panel, foldable AMOLED display panels for smartphone and AMOLED smartwatches display panel.

The new 65-inch borderless flat ALCD TV panel equidded with the AUO’s GOA (Gate on Array) technology and borderless process, which can minimiz the size of the border of LCD.
AUO said the GOA technology can significantly reduce the number of driver IC in used to complete full flat planel without borders.By using this technology, customers can maximize the visible range of screen, thinner panels, to in line with the trend of modern lifestyle.
In addition to its new 65-inch borderless flat ALCD TV panel, AUO also lauched a 55-inch narrow frame videowall display panel with width of 1.8 mm after stitching , which can be spliced into a variety of sizes and shapes based on the environmental needs.
Regarding foldable AMOLED technology, AUO's new product with thickness of only 0.1 mm, can be repeatedly folded more than 200,000 times on the radius of 4 mm, while still maintaining excellent display quality. And the new foldable AMOLED technology can be used in the next generation of smartphone and tablet.
Furthermore, AUO said that the company will support the VR products. For virtual reality head-mounted display, AUO will launch a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED panel in response to customers’ demand for the VR market.
In order to meet the market demand for high-end display products, AUO also noted that its Gen-6 LTPS Plant in Kunshan, China, is scheduled to move into mass production in the third quarter of this year. There will be a capacity of 25,000 pieces per month in the first stage,and all of them will be 4K laptops and smart phones panels.
