TSMC’s Production Capacity to Be Fully Loaded in the H2

TAIPEI, Taiwan - According to Taiwan Economic Daily News, leading chip foundry, clients are lining up for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) 8-inch and 12-inch chip production lines. TSMC’s third quarter revenue is expected to experience a growth rate of over 15% and possibly even as high as nearly 20%.

The Economic Daily News pointed out the due to gradual growth in demand for chips for apple and other cell phones, fingerprint recognition, semiconductors for automobiles, and image sensors, TSMC’s 8-inch and 12-inch production capacities are at full capacity. Furthermore, clients must wait in a queue for their orders to be processed.

In addition, the production capacity shortage for chip OEM’s has spread to other OEM manufacturers, such as United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC). In the future, the production capacity situation between rival manufacturers will become even more competitive.

Mediatek Chairman and CEO Ming-Kai Tsai also stated that the production capacity for chip OEM manufacturers is experiencing a shortage, and this situation will persist until at least September.
