Taiwan Condenses Industries Power to Develop Industry 4.0 and IoT

TAIPEI, Taiwan - In order to develop Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things technology and markets, four major industry associations in Taiwan, including semiconductors, machinery, and electronics domains have decided to team up and collaborate in order to deepen one another's global competitiveness through cross-domain cooperation.

Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA), Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), Taiwan Automation Intelligence and Robotics Association (TAIROA), and Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association (TMBA) yesterday announced that they had collectively signed a cross industry cooperation alliance memorandum and will strive to collectively upgrade Taiwan's machine tools and industrial machines in order to meet the requirements of smart machinery and Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

TSIA General Director and Etron Technology, Inc. CEO Dr. Nicky Lu pointed out that in the future the integration of Industry 4.0-related public associations, including semiconductors, machine tools, and precision machinery industries, will enable Taiwanese enterprises to reap the benefits of cross-industry cooperation and take the lead among other competitors.

AIROA and TMBA Director and HIWIN Technologies Corp. CEO Ying-Tsai Chuo stated that there will be a relationship between Industry 4.0 and the development of Taiwan's industries during the next fifty years, and it will even influence core competitiveness for the century.

SEMI Taiwan President Terry Tsao, stated that SEMI has signed a cooperation agreement with three major associations which will enable them to continue to expand exchanges and to explore business opportunities. This will also drive Taiwan's local parts and materials suppliers, precision machinery, and automation-related businesses to enter into the global semiconductor industry supply chain.
