Advantech Hands with ARM to Popularize Global IoTs Platform

TAIPEI, Taiwan - At the Embedded IoT Partner Summit Partner Conference, Taiwanese intelligent systems provider Advantech announced that it will work with ARM on the ARM mbed Cloud and the mbed IoT Device Platform. Advantech will use ARM mbed OS and ARM mbed Cloud on its M2.COM and integrate that into its WISE-PaaS.

Chaney Ho, President of Advantech, said, because of the rise the Internet of Things, the trend of CPU chip developing turned to diverse and the market demands changed from pure hardware to system integration, and business model of manufacturing design went to IoT concept sales. The four major subversive technologies of IoT including sensors, wireless technology, IoT-PaaS, and large data analysis.

Ho further pointed out that, ARM plays an very important role in the development of IoT technology. In 2015, ARM-based chips shipments reached 15 billion units globally, most of which were in the field of smart embedded applications. The cooperation between Advantech and ARM is not only to complete Advantech's product lines, but also to popularize the IoT applications.

Zhang Jiahao, Vice President of Advantech IoT Embedded Platform Group, said that the incubation of ARM/RISC products is a key strategy for developing Advantech’s IoT embedded platform business. By equipping ARM mbed into Advantech’s M2.COM and integrating ARM mbed Cloud into Advantech's WISE-PaaS, will not only greatly enhance the comprehensivity of Advantech’s product lines, but also reduce the difficulty of using Advantech’s IoT applications.

Krisztian Flautner, deputy general manager of IoT division of ARM, said that Advantech is an important partner in the development of mbed, the cooperation between the two sides will accelerate the connection between the terminal and cloud services in the enterprise IoT area. We convinced that the technical link of two sides is to speed up the integration of IoT in a more simple and standardized way.
