Advantech Teams Up with Chunghwa Telecom to Establish 5G Industry Ecological Chain

TAIWAN, Taiwan - Advantech Co., Ltd. today announced that they are teaming up with Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. to jointly establish a 5G industry ecological chain. With Advantech’s VEGA series of 4K/8K image real-time coding solutions combined with 5G applications, they will provide real-time and smooth UHD video streaming.

Advantech Taiwan Region Associate Vice President of Manufacturing Operations Jamie Lin stated that Advantech has had a layout in the 5G market from an early stage. Furthermore, the company's network communications business group has endeavored in 5G for a number of years while also developing 4K/8K technologies and application innovations as well as edge computing which will be brought about by 5G. Early in 2018, Advantech joined the “5G Pilot Team” led by Chunghwa Telecom, and hopefully in 2020 when the 5G commercial network is launched they will be able to play a key role in the global 5G value chain.

Advantech Imaging Department Associate Xie Qiong-qi explained that Advantech’s VEGA series of 4K/8K image instant coding solutions combined with 5G applications comprise a video processing platform with low latency and easy integration. In addition, through the utilization of more efficient mobile edge and core network bandwidth, it improves the compression efficiency of the new mobile video infrastructure.

The results of their bilateral collaboration have already been gradually announced domestically and overseas. For example, they were showcased in November 2018 at NGMN IC&E in Vancouver, Canada and at the MWC exhibition in February 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.
