Holtek announced the release of its new 12V/900mA High Current Driver Touch Flash MCU, the BS45F5930. The device is specifically designed for applications which require a 6V~12V input voltage range, a PWM output and high current driver functions. Applicable products could be LED touch table lamps, touch switch nail phototherapy machines and other touch switch products which require an operating voltage of up to 12V.

The device includes a 2-channel PWM output working with a 12V high current driver, an integrated LDO providing a 5V voltage output, a comparator function and 4 touch key input channels. The touch keys all have high anti-interference capabilities that allow them to resist various types of noise interference and consequently avoid malfunctioning. Due to these features the device requires only a minimal number of external components for the implementation of various applications.

For example, to construct a fully adjustable colour temperature and luminance 12V constant current drive LED touch table lamp application, the only external hardware required is a bypass capacitor, an LED string and a current-limiting resistor.

Additionally, the device includes an integrated over voltage protection function which is a useful protection feature in 12V constant current drive LED touch table lamp applications. It is only required to add a Buck conversion circuit and by using the comparator to measure the resistance voltage drop of the current path, a constant current function can be implemented using software, thus saving the cost of an external constant current driver IC.

Holtek also fully supports this device with a comprehensive suite of hardware and software development tools. The software tools include a touch key function library which enables designers to develop their products more rapidly by eliminating the need to write software for the touch key functions. The hardware development tool is known as the e-Link which works together with an OCDS evaluation MCU to provide users with an actual MCU device with which development emulation and debug can be fully implemented, thus reducing significantly the development time.
