As an extension product to the BS84B08C, this device supports up to 12 touch keys and provides a higher range of system resources. This new generation device can resist various types of noise interference such as power noise, RF interference, power fluctuations, etc. and has passed the conductive susceptibility dynamic 10V test. It has an operating voltage of 2.2V~5.5V and provides a 4-level optional LVR voltage range of 2.1V~3.8V, an 8-channel A/D converter, a 10-bit Periodic Timer Module and a 10-bit Compact Timer Module for PWM output generation as well as SPI and I2C external interfaces. As the device is fully pin-compatible with the BS84C12A-3, it can act as a direct replacement without requiring modifications to the existing PCB. As for packaging, the device is supplied in 20-pin SOP/SSOP, 24-pin SOP/SSOP and 28-pin SOP/SSOP package types.

The device can be used as a master MCU device or work together with other master MCUs to implement touch key detection. Holtek also fully supports this device with a comprehensive suite of hardware and software development tools. The software includes a touch key function library which enables designers to develop their products rapidly by eliminating the need to write code for the touch key functions. The hardware development tool is known as the e-Link which works together with an OCDS evaluation MCU to provide users with an actual MCU device with which development emulation and debug can be implemented, thus reducing significantly the development to market time.
