Higher Specs Meets Cheaper Price in Taiwan Smartphone Market

The PCs market is no doubt bearish worldwide year after year, many of the PCs-related manufacturers have unveiled their high specs handheld devices with cheaper price. Though, acted fast with the trend does good or bad result remains to be seen.

Global personal computer shipments over 2013 are expected to show a 10-percent decline from a year earlier as consumer interest has turned away from PCs, market information advisory firm International Data Corp. (IDC) said in a research report.

Leadtek once is famous for Video Graphics Array in PCs market, lately it released a five-smartphone series, amor, most of which run Mediatek's quad-core processor along with 4 or 6-inch screen. Not only provided high specs smartphone, it also has a built-in Event Data Recorder app. However, Leadtek also seized the chance of developing wearable devices and wirless medical monitoring devices.

“PC usage is nonetheless declining each year as more devices become available,” IDC senior analyst Jay Chou said in a statement.

Simply one week a head of Leadtek made its debut of budget smarphone series, another firm of Video Graphics Array, Palit Microsystems launched 6.3-inch phone aiming to take on China's version of Apple, Xiaomi, as well.

IDC yet predicted a further 3.8 percent fall in global PC shipments next year, before eventually showing small growth in the long term. Based on current trends, global PC shipments in 2017 are likely to be around just 305.1 million units.

Apart from Leadtek and Palit Microsystems, let alone ASUS' PadFone that consists of smarphone and tablet. More and more PC-related firms are making their way into the communication market, which proves multifunctions handheld devices probably are the key factor that PC supposed to be transformed.
