Intel is a leading brand in PC chips market, but fallen far behind after Qualcomm and MediaTek in mobile communications chips market. In the view of taking more market share in handset chips, Intel promised that will support Asus in product pricing, developing, and marketing, based on an earlier report.

Apart from that, Hewlett-Packard will unveil two entry-level smartphones lately, and it will be used Intel chips rather than MediaTek's, as well. Intel hence complete its smartphone chips' territory by allying with Asus, Lenovo, and Hewlett-Packard.

Source also indicated that Hewlett-Packard did seek help from Taiwanese OEMs, Compal and Wistron, but the price didn't match mutual agreement so that the orders still gone to BYD.
