Dow Continued to Support The Reading Ability of Taiwan's Remote Areas

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Dow Chemical has announced that continued to work with CommonWealth Magazine Education Foundation, National Chengchi University AMBA and BCSD-Taiwan cooperation , to sponsor the "Reading of Hope" and "Corporate Sustainability Entrepreneurship Competition" plan, hoping to play the power of knowledge of education, driving social progress and sustainable development.
Funded by Dow Chemical, there were nearly a hundred volunteers from Dow to share science books to students of primary school monthly in the remote areas since 2012, cumulative number of service hours were over 700 hours; addition, in May 2013, the award-winning student of "Little Writer Drawing and Literary Creation Contest "were also accompanied by Dow Chemical’s volunteers to expand the two-day study tour of Taipei learning.
April 2014 , Dow will start to work with The Society of Wilderness to develop the marine environmental education, led the children of remote areas can actually visit and experience the biodiversity of wetlands in Taiwan, will expand the knowledge of reading to recognize and care for the surrounding environment.
Zhu Ling Huang , president of Dow Greater China, said, Dow long been concerned about the development of outlying communities in Taiwan, take practical action to help children develop power of reading, not only show people-oriented concept of sustainable development of Dow, but also to create excellence in corporate social value.
In addition to care the development of outlying community, Dow also set " Corporate Sustainability Entrepreneurship Competition Program" to educate participating students the sense of responsibility to society and the concept of sustainable development, help future business leaders to propose both innovative and sustainable Planning by self- creativity.
Chen Cheng-Chun, general manager of Dow Chemical Taiwan, said, Dow Chemical brought senior professional managers as instructors in the contest, he also served as the final referee in the past two years, is expected to help more young people deeply rooted in the concept of sustainable development, to sow the seeds of sustainable development in Taiwan.
