New Taipei City Ranks Top7 of 2014 International Smart City

New Taipei City, Taiwan - New Taipei City has assessed as Top7 of 2014 international smart city by the Intelligent Community Forum(ICF).

In order to develop smart City , New Taipei City Government team with many Taiwan's business cooperation, including Chunghwa Telecom, Far Glory enterprise, Far Eastern Group, Global Mobile, Horng Jou Ceramics, Luxgen , Taiwan Microsoft, SingTex , Tai-Haw Pottery and Taipei Port container Terminal, and also work with New Taipei City Fire Department, Police Department, Smart boro president System, industry alliances and business associations, to show the results of broadband internet connection, cloud computing, big data, industrial innovation, environmental sustainability , cloud teaching, cultural creativity and cloud government programs.
New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu said the New Taipei City can obtain Top7 is the efforts of all the people, also to thank the appreciation from ICF , New Taipei City will continue to improve the urban development via IT technology and process reengineering.
Robert Bell, ICF founder and one of the judges, took two-day visits in Taiwan for this purpose. During his visits, Robert Bell had saw New Taipei City put all energy in smart city construction, especially in the high-speed Internet and cultural industries. For broadband internet in the New Taipei City, coverage of 100MB fiber optic service is 87.08%; internet access rate up to 80.66%; over 1876 free WiFi hotspots; 3.5G mobile data rates of over 95% population coverage.
Robert Bell said,“this is why the New Taipei City can rank the world's top seven in its second year of competition, Congratulations to New Taipei City , ICF is proud to select New Taipei City as one of the best smart cities around the world.”
Robert Bell also pointed out that an excellent city of the 21st century is not only have construction of broadband and other hardware, but also to have innovation of smart technology used in work, life and learning, to bring convenience and happiness for people. The New Taipei City is appropriate to achieve the combination of technology and culture.
