Rumors: Japan's Softbank Intends to Stake in Taiwan’s Asia Pacific Telecom

TAIPEI, Taiwan- According to Taiwan media reported that the world's third largest telecom provider Softbank of Japan intends stake in Asia Pacific Telecom Taiwan, has sent executives to Taiwan to discuss the possibility of cooperation of 4G business and jointly bid for 2.6GHz spectrum.

Reported that Softbank attached great importance to this investment, have sent its investment company proposed the cooperation plan to the Asia-Pacific Telecom. Previous market spread that Asia Pacific Telecom major shareholders are willing to sell NT$15 to NT$19 per share holdings, but has not been confirmed.
In addition, Ted Matsumoto, Chief Strategy Advisor Communications and Senior Executive Vice President of Softbank, personally to Taiwan this week, will visit Asia Pacific Telecom chairman Chiu Chun-Chi, general manager Chi Hwan-Kuo, as well as chairman of Global Mobile Ho Wei-Ling, and other Taiwan manufacturers, seeking possible cooperation.
For rumors, Chi Hwan-Kuo said that Softbank has not been approached to talk about equity cooperation, no comment on rumors.
