Intel and CHT Annouce Collaboration on IoT

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Intel Taiwan and Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) annouced on Thursday that they have signed a MOU to jointly accelerate innovation and growth on IoT, Cloud Computing, and software-defined network (SDN). The collaboration aims to drive technology innovation, facilitate new usage models, and support enabling the industry ecosystem to capitalize on new growth opportunities in the field.

“Internet of Things and Cloud Computing create huge opportunities ofr technology innovation and business transformation for the IT industry,” said Gordon Graylish, Intel vice president of Sales and Marketing Group and General Manager of Enterprise Solution Sales. “Intel is delighted to expand collaboration spanning IoT, cloud and SDN with Chunghwa Telecom to realize the vision of Connected Society in Taiwan.”

Hung Feng-yue, President of Chunghwa Telecommunication Laboratories explained their collaboration in detaild. “Firsly, the IoT will be speeded up. Secondly, the Cloud Computing will become a data center and save energy. Thirdly, SDN will have more business customers.” In general, CHT will have more money on the cost, and the service will be advanced.

However, the IoT projects include smart city, smart home, energy management, intelligent security, fleet management, and healthcare Apps. In Cloud Computing, a Virtuoso enterprise private cloud and a Cloud BOSS business operation management system are now available as well as new big data computing technologies.

In terms of SDN, CHT has invested significant R&D resources n technology innovation and Apps deployment. In addition to taking part in the Taiwan SDN Alliance to exchange insights with the industry, academia and reserach community, CHT also collaborate with the communications equipment makers to grow the Taiwan SDN industry ecosystem.

Intel will provide Intel Gateway Solutions for IoTs to CHT as the foundation for developing the IoT Apps in enabling users to seamlessly interconnect devices into and IoT-ready system of systems, and securely transmittng and analyzing valuable Cloud Computing data.
