Lite-On Technology Become IPhone 6 Charger Provider

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Rumor has it that the Lite-On Technology Corporation got the iPhone 6 charger orders, the company pointed out that due to the confidentiality agreement so no comment on this. However, the company confessed that there's new growth driver for chargers in the quarter three and four, and its LED supply does not meet the demand.

Chen Guang-zhong, Vice Chairperson of Lite-On Technology said on Thursday that due to the non-disclosure agreement with customers so no comment on the rumors regarding whether they will be the iPhone 6 charger provider. But Chen also made confession by saying that there's truly a new driving force on handset chargers, and its LED business supply does not meet the demand in the quarter three.
It is said tha Lite-On Technology has already received charger orders of iPhone 6. Chen Guang-zhong stated out that in the past they relied on PC business, it's needed to have new products and new customers to bring up new driving force.
According to Lite-On Technology, in the second quarter, stable growth was achieved in all six major applications/products of Lite-On's core business ― Camera modules, LED Lighting applications, High-end server power systems & enclosures for cloud computing application, Solid state drives (SSD), Automotive electronics and Game consoles ― which accounted for about 50 percent of Lite-On's overall revenue with a growth of 45 percent year on year.
The Optoelectronics business segment contributed a 28 percent share of Lite-On's overall revenue in the second quarter with a growth of 53 percent year on year. This growth was attributable to LED sales growth, coupled with camera modules business' high megapixel product expansion and smooth delivery, as well as ongoing gains in the global market shares of smartphones and tablets.
The Information Technologies business segment accounted for 44 percent of the total revenue with a growth of 21 percent year on year of which Power Supplies revenue achieved a growth of about 20 percent year on year, resulting from increases in global demand for networking devices and server power management systems in cloud computing applications, PC, mobile devices and game consoles.
Looking forward, thanks to increased demand from mobile devices, LED and lighting, power management systems and game consoles, as well as stable demand from PC markets, continued growths in overall performance are expected in the third quarter.
“No matter it's the era of smartphone or tablet, Taiwan plays an important role in designing and manufacturing. But, Taiwan is a bit fallen behind in the IoTs software, though Taiwan is the major design and manufacture country of IoTs hardware.” said Song Gong-yuan, Chairperson of Lite-On Technology.
