New iPhones are the Major Growth Driver of TSMC

TAIPEI, Taiwan — New iPhones will soon be released, though it has mixed reviews it is still the major growth driver of many Taiwanese component firms. TSMC is one of the iPhone suppliers, Its Chairperson Morris Chang is very optimistic toward fourth quarter because of the demand of new iPhones.

Morris Chang pointed out that the demand of Long Term Evolution (LTE) leads to the shipment of 20 nanometer and 28 nanometer products that has been the major driving force in third quater, it will be the same in fourth quarter.

Investors said that due to the unleashed of iPhone 6 series, the shipment of 20 nanometer A9 processors will be surely rising, and the revenue of coming fourth quarter will hit a record high.

Consequently, TSMC 16 namometer process hasn't been put into mass production, but already has cutomers from CUP, SoC, baseband, and graphics, according to TSMC.
