TAIPEI, Taiwan-PRIMAX has invested US$40 million in Mainland China to expand its factories in Dongguan and Chongqing. Production is expected to begin in the middle of next year.
PRIMAX is a computer peripherals company that specializes in manufacturing products such as keyboards and mouses, which make up 40-45% of its total revenue. However, in recent years, PRIMAX has begun to develop other products such as mobile device camera modules and digital homes.
Currently, PRIMAX mainly supplies camera modules to Chinese name-brand mobile phones, HTC, and Amazon. The revenue share for camera modules has reached 30%.
However, digital home audio products are another new emerging business. PRIMAX at the end of last year acquired the audio manufacturer, Tymphany, and it has already become a part of PRIMAX’s operations.
Tymphany’s biggest client is Beats, and after Apple purchased Beats it also increased PRIMAX’s market share in the field.
Furthermore, in order to respond the increasing number of orders, PRIMAX is constructing new factories in Mainland China in Dongguan and Chongqing. With an investment of US$40 million, operations are expected to begin during the second quarter of 2015 at earliest, and the main products will be camera and audio products.
