TAIPEI, Taiwan — Wu Jin-rong, General Manager of Explore Microelectronics, said that Internet of Things (IoT) is being born under the advanced technology and the well-function Internet infrastructure so that people can go online anytime, anywhere. The IoT era encourages people to start their own business.
Explore Microelectronics: ET IC is a Must for High-end Handsets
TAIPEI, Taiwan — Within a year, most of the smartphone developers adapted the envelope tracking (ET) IC in their flagship handsets...
“There are three layers out of IoT, the bottom is the sensor layer consisted of various kind of sensoring chips in order to get information from outside.” said Wu Jing-rong.
Wu said that the middle layer of which is the network layer that is responsible for sending messages, the network including WiFi, mobile network, and Internet, etc.
“With the network layer that is sending information, which is needed to be properly dealt with, so on the top application layer receives information from sensor layer then through the cloud and Big Data along with dealing the information with specific hardware to provide the service. The application layer resulted in Smart city, smart home, smart logistics management, which can be applied to all walks of life.” Wu Jing-rong added.
Wu Jing-rong pointed out that the different kinds of sensor chips, for example, temperature, humidity, air, and image, thanks to the lower price of all these chips so that it's easily to install chips everywhere.
“At the time being, IoT is in its introductory period. Those who with creative thinking could start their own business. We will see a lot of new companies rising in IoT era.” Wu said.
Moreover, Wu suggested that in IoT era the low power consumption, high efficiency semiconductor components will rise as the inevitable ones. Also, the demand of network devices will be high.
