Pegatron to Become the Supply Chain of iPhone 6 Plus?

TAIPEI, Taiwan — As the 5.5-inch bigsreen iPhone 6 Plus is selling like hot cakes, the productivity of sole OEM firm Foxconn is tightened and rumor has it that Apple has chosen Pegatron as part of its supply chain. Pegatron withhold comment on this on Sunday.

Despite its not that surprised hardware specs, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus still have high popularity, especially the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus is hard to assemble so that the supply is very tight. Take Taiwan into account, even for those who are cell phones being tied up with the contract might not get iPhone 6 Plus by the end of this year.

A reliable source said that the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is 6:4 in proportion, or 55:45, due to the high demand of iPhone 6 Plus, Apple is seeking new OEM partners, which is accordingly happened to be Pegatron.

Analyst said that the productivity of Pegatron is merely one-fourth or one-fifth comparing that of with Foxconn. For the time being, Foxconn is 80 percent, Pegatron is 18 percent, and Wistron is 4 percent in iPhone OEM percentage. As long as Pegatron received orders of iPhone6 Plus, the percentage will surely be changed.

Pegatron and Foxconn now shared the OEM orders of iPhone 6, it is experienced with iPhone assembling. However, it is said that Pegatron is very cautious in taking OEM orders of iPhone 6 Plus, it's not an easy job because the concern of equipment and productivity, along with the negotiation of components supply.

Relatively, Pegatron Monday announced unaudited consolidated revenue of NT$120.0 billion for the month of October 2014.
