ITRI held a research presentation in Tainan, showcasing thirty-four next-generation smart technologies, one of which is the robotic arms. One arm can take the cup, while the other arm press the start button, making ice cream extrusion automatically. By using the visual sensing technology, the ice cream will be delivered to users' hands automatically.

Fan Yu-wen, Vice Director at the system center of the ITRI South, explained that the visual sensing robotic arms added the ITRI developed multi-sensing integration of visual recognition and inertial components module on the current robotic arms.

Director Fan pointed out that the visual recognition is like human eyes, transmitting imageries to the control system to do the timely analysis. Inertial components are commonly seen in the handset devices to measure space and location, which can be applied in the robotic arms to faster calculated the relative position.

Fan Yu-wen said that the traditional robotic arms as long as added the multi-sensing server module that can make the movement more precisely and coherent. “It helps to recognize several kinds of shapes in objects, fitting in different kinds of automated manufacturing lines.”

Fan Yu-wen added that the multi-sensing server module is more competitive in manufacturing the limited customized products.
