Taiwan Issues Smart Home Products Standard -TaiSEIA 101

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan Smart Energy Industry Association (TaiSEIA) today officially released a new standard of smart home products - TaiSEIA 101, for 15 smart appliances, included air-conditioning, dehumidifiers and television, etc.

TaiSEIA 101 is a smart home industry product standard of Taiwan, be used as communication protocol in the application layer of appliances, as well as the network communications adapter and home gateways product. It can be used in all types of residential and commercial environments, including general family homes, apartments, and office buildings.

As for the applications, TaiSEIA 101 can be adopted in home automation, home energy management, Home security, home care, etc., currently applicable household appliances include: air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, washing machine, dryer, heat pump water heaters, television sets, air cleaners, microwave ovens, electronic pot, drink machines, dish dryer, cooker, all heat exchangers, fans.

Lin Wei-shan, chairman of TaiSEIA, said, smart home is one of the important applications of IoT, and smart household appliances is the important components of the smart home. By carrying out the communication with each other appliances can change the traditional operation, and realizes the full automatized lifestyle.

Ho Wu-Ji, deputy director of Green Energy Institute of ITRI, said that ITRI will continue to promote TaiSEIA 101 standard to help it become the national standard, expand the applications, and invests smart home technology in the domains of smart sensors, low-power network communication, virtual instruments and big data. In addition to work with appliances, equipment and Telecommunications suppliers, to create a comfortable smart home environment for people.

The members of Taiwan Smart Energy Industry Association include Tatung, Hitachi Taiwan, Panasonic Taiwan, Sampo, Teco, Chunghwa Telecom, Bointec and Industrial Technology Research Institute.
