Firstly, C. C. Wei stated out that there are three major breakthroughs in the semiconductor industry: eight times of chips performance increased, 30 times of power reduction, and 35 times of transistor count. “The worldwide R&D fee that invested on semiconductor industry is $56,000,000,000, and Taiwan ranked 9.9 percent that topped all the other industries on the island.”

Meanwhile, he further pointed out that as PC and smartphone grow slowly in these years, IoT will be the main growth driver and hope of the industry. “There will surely be many startups rising in the near future. The point is providing the integration service of IoT. Hence, low-power consumption, sensor, and System in Package (SiP) are three technical advantages of Taiwan in IoT era.”

Relatively, he gave an example, saying that one of his colleagues was killed in a car accident, “If it’s in the IoT era, the car will automatically tell road conditions to avoid collision.”

Furthermore, the IoT application in healthcare is an unmistakable trend. “Nursing computer, hospitatl network, virtual servers are bridges to connect and link the timely personal health record with notification device. It will create revenue $6.8 billion dollars of healthcare in semiconductor industry in 2017.”
