TAIPEI, Taiwan — The Textile International Forum and Exhibition (TIFE) 2015, organized by the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI) and commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), is scheduled to commence from October 5 to 7, 2015, at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) International Conference Center. The smart high-temperature protective wear is the highlight at the show.
Novel nylon biotextiles, highly breathable micron-grade water repelling apparel, seamless sportswear, smart running wear, smart high-temperature protective wear, and bionic smart series and graphene series products will be presented in the Technology Development Section at TIFE 2015.
However, many electronic firms are highly interested in acquiring the technology transfer of the high-temperature protective wear. Source said that one of which is the supplier of Apple Inc.’s powerline with the reason that the high-temperature protective wear could be applied to cover the powerline to replace the plastic cover.
The main theme of TIFE2015 is “Innovation and Value Creation.” Bai Chi-chung, President of TTRI, indicated that this theme is aimed at drawing attention to the intensified global competition in the textile industry because of the emergence of countries with low-cost textile industries as well as the prosperity of the regional economies.
Dr. Bai further stated that for Taiwan to remain a prominent supplier worldwide, textile companies must contemplate strategies to enhance the distinctiveness and value of their textile products through developing value addedness and product and service differentiation. Doing so enables the domestic textile industry to maintain its innovativeness while delivering value to customers as well as maintain its global competitiveness while advancing toward a more sustainable business operation.
In recent years, wearable smart textiles have attracted considerable attention, and they are particularly valued by the textile industry because of the emphasis placed on creating high-value-added and innovative products. Because Taiwan plays a central role in the research and production of functional textiles worldwide, TIFE has chosen functional and smart textiles as the core of the 2015 forum and exhibition to explore the development of differentiated and high-value-added products to create favorable business opportunities.
