The PM 2.5 air quality monitoring solution includes: the environmental monitoring AirBox as the front end, which is linked to the Edimax Cloud monitoring platform to transmit real-time air quality information to Academia Sinica’s Big Data Analysis System. Using the EdiGreen App, city residents can look up air quality information at each base on Google Map at any time.

Dr. Chen Ling-Jyh of Academia Sinica’s Institute of Information Science pointed out, “The most problematic aspect of PM 2.5 is that people have no choice about the air. At any time, anyone may be located in a place with harmful air quality and not know about it. The first step in dealing with PM 2.5 is becoming aware of how dirty the environment is.”

He believes that AirBox will enable city residents to easily and clearly see which places have good and bad air quality on a map. They can then use this knowledge to appropriately alter their living habits and more actively engage in environmental protection.

Edimax is currently collaborating with Taipei Smart City and have already provided over 300 AirBox installations in all of the Taipei City elementary schools and municipal departments and units to comprise the world’s first Live Lab Environmental Sensor ecosystem.
