COMPUTEX Draws to a Close After Attracting 42,200 International Buyers

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Hosted by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA), COMPUTEX 2018 drew to a close on June 9th. According to TAITRA statistics, over the course of 5 days the exhibition attracted 42,200 international buyers from 168 different countries, which was a 1% increase over the previous year. In order of ranking, the top ten national and regional sources of purchasers was the United States, Japan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, India, and the Philippines.

The six major themes which were the focuses at COMPUTEX this year included Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Innovations and Startups, and Virtual Reality (VR) with the InnoVEX and SmarTEX IoT exhibition areas serving as key attractions. Through various means, including exhibitions, forums, and media conferences, COMPUTEX has become the world’s top smart solutions and e-sports supply chain B2B procurement platform as well as the top partner for global technology ecosystems.
Furthermore, the InnoVEX Innovations and Startups exhibition area attracted a total of 388 participant startup groups from 21 different countries and a total of 17,600 participants, which was a yearly increase of over 18%. Approximately 1/3 of the participating groups at the exhibition showcased AI-related technologies.
TAITRA Executive Vice President Leonor F. M. Lin stated that since its establishment, COMPUTEX has been of constant assistance to both foreign and domestic manufacturers and has been an important platform for increasing their level of exposure and product sales. COMPUTEX has also become the venue of choice for enterprises to release new products.
TAITRA also pointed out that next year following the opening of Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2, the overall scale of the COMPUTEX exhibition is expected to further increase.
