The conference where the MOU between Taiwan and the United States was signed was actively oriented towards the development of applications which integrate medical treatment and big data, and it contributed to the progress and transformation of AI in the domain of medical treatment in Taiwan.

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) pointed out that the School of Medicine at America’s Stanford University has been investing in the field of AI for a number of years and analyzed a huge amount of medical data from Long Island, New York in the eastern United States for feedback into the local medical system. This has reduced the inpatient mortality rate by 37.5%, and the overall results are very promising.

The MOU between the two universities in Taiwan and the United States is focused on the research and development of AI applications for biotech medical treatments, establishing a system for the processing of medical data, establishing an office to promote bilateral ties, setting up an interface for the integration and storage of data and information systems, and the cultivation of talent and cooperation and the translation of results.
