After this merger, in addition to continuing to provide R&D services for IC design, offline, testing, semiconductor components, materials, and manufacturing processes and talent cultivation training, in the future the Semiconductor Research Institute will also bring their integrated comprehensive efficiency into play with the two being greater than the sum of their individual parts to enable Taiwanese semiconductor technology to continue to play an important role in academia and industry.

Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Minister Liang-Gee Chen stated in his speech that he anticipates that following the merger of CIC and NDL into the Semiconductor Research Institute, the comprehensive effect of vertical integration can be realized to create more abundant and forward-looking R&D results.

In addition, in cooperation with the MOST Semiconductor Moonshot Project and AI chip technology development in Taiwan, NARLabs Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute is a leader among similar international institutions and has established the first domestic AI System Development Lab, which includes AI model verification, AI chip simulation verification, AI chip software and hardware co-verification, and FPGA verification for AI chips.
