SGET Announces New Chairman and Sets Sail for a New Decade

Published: Jul 11,2021

SGET, an international not-for-profit association of companies and organizations that collaboratively develop independent specifications for embedded computer technology, held its triennial management board election. The group elected a new chairman and re-elected four members of the board to lead the association through 2024.

At the annual general meeting of the Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies e.V. (SGET), held on June 08, the new management board was elected. Over the next three years, the following members will represent the interests of the members: Ansgar Hein (independent) as Chairman, Christian Eder (congatec) as First Deputy Chairman, Martin Unverdorben (Kontron) as Second Deputy Chairman, Martin Steger (iesy) as Treasurer, Mark Swiecicki (Waypoint Projects) as Secretary. Eilyn Kadow (independent) was reconfirmed in her position as SGET Auditor.

“I am honored to have the opportunity of serving on the Board with such outstanding experts and representing the interests of all SGET members.”, said Ansgar Hein, newly appointed Chairman of SGET. “The whole board would like to thank Wolfgang Eisenbarth and his extraordinary commitment. He has retired from his position as Chairman in 2020 for personal reasons. During his term of office, his work has transformed SGET and positioned it for the future.”

With a total of five working groups from the areas of hardware and software, SGET currently offers an interesting portfolio of open standards for embedded technologies. In addition to standards that are successfully established in the market, such as Qseven and SMARC, SGET is focusing on OSM, a novel standard for the fully automated assembly, soldering and testing of computer modules.

“By publishing the specification for Open Standard Modules (OSM) in December 2020, we have reached an important milestone. The first OSM boards are already in development, plus we were able to gain new members with the OSM working group,” Ansgar Hein summarizes and adds: “It proves again that we stand for innovation and practical orientation with our members, far away from bureaucracy.”
