The SGET-standardized Qseven Rev. 2.0 module, originally released in Q2 of 2014, is now available with AAEON’s WiTAS (Wide Temperature) technology, allowing it to operate in the extreme temperatures of -40°C to +85°C. This advance in capability will effectively widen its targeted application range from simple Point-of-Sale or digital signage applications to adverse condition environments where wide temperature ranges are expected, such as the Transportation Industry and many Industrial applications.

Even with the addition of wide temperature support, the module still maintains its originally designed power consumption of 3-5W, thanks to the use of Freescale i.MX6 series processors. Additional expansion options featured on the module include a PCI-Express slot, CAN bus, I2C bus, SD card and USB 2.0. Operating systems such as Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)/ 4.4 (Kitkat) and Linux 3.0.35 are supported.

AAEON will also provide an ECB-970 carrier board as a test bed for clients interested in evaluating the module before the implementation of their own customized carrier board.

“The Qseven form factor measures 70mm x 70mm, making it perfect for any mobile or handheld applications such as gaming or medical devices”, said David Hung, Project Manager of AAEON’s Embedded Computing Division.

“Increasing the operating temperature range of the device will open up new applications for this module. Also, we managed to bring the power requirement for the AQ7-IMX6 down to a mere 3W-5W, which is about 7W lower than what is stipulated for this form factor, making 24/7 operation possible”.
