Holtek’s new HT7A6312 is a power control IC that can be applied for use in both non-isolated or isolated AC/DC power design with a full range voltage input. This AC/DC power control IC, with its advantages of low standby power consumption and high efficiency, will see prominent use in the household appliance application area. Its flexible structure allows it to be used under a variety of different schemes such as in step-down, step-up, isolated and non-isolated flyback converters.

As a functionally integrated power control device, it includes an internal 730V high voltage power transistor with a low 19Ω on resistance, a high voltage start-up switch and a current mode PWM controller. Using output voltage feedback signals, the PWM controller will regulate the output voltage using both a high voltage fast start-up function as well as a light load burst mode to reduce light load switching losses.

The HT7A6312 has a low standby operating current of 0.7mA, significantly reducing its standby power consumption. A full range of protective functions are provided which include protection for over current, over voltage and over temperature all of which can initiate an auto-reset function. These functions combine to provide a level of safety protection allowing safe and reliable device usage.

With regard to packaging, the device is supplied in 8-pin SOP and 8-pin DIP package types. With its simple system architecture design, the device has both the advantages of high efficiency and low cost.
