TAIPEI, Taiwan - In Taiwan at Beitou Hot Springs Park because a rare monster often appears, many people take advantage of the weekend and go there to catch Pokemon. Nearly a thousand people gather on a short road causing a kilometer-long traffic jam, and it is so crowded that there is no longer any cell phone signal.
Beitou Hot Springs Park is a well-known hot spring site in Taiwan, and because of the gushing natural hot springs in the park, it is a popular spot on weekends. However, ever since the release of Pokemon Go, due to the frequent appearance of a rare monster, large crowds of people go there to catch Pokemon on weekends and evenings, causing severe parking violations and crowding.
Beitou Precinct, Taipei Police Department estimates that between August 11 and August 20, 387 tickets were issued for parking violations, and on August 21, 97 tickets were issued in just a single day.
One local resident commented that what normally would be ordinarily be a one minute route has become a thirty minute route, and the resident is extremely unhappy with the situation.
In addition to Beitou Hot Springs Park a number of other sites are experiencing the same situation. Consequently, a number of government units and communities have already formally requested for these spots to be removed from the Pokemon Go Map.
