Phihong has released a new 10W medical grade wall-plug adapter approved for use in minimally invasive, bodily floating (Type BF) medical applied parts that have conductive, medium-term, or long-term contact with patients.
Designated the PMA10R-050AW, Phihong’s new 10W medical wall-plug adapter is rated for 115 to 230VAC input and 5VDC output, and is a limited power source (LPS) with output leakage of <100μA at 264VAC/50Hz.
Available with interchangeable plugs for international compatibility, the new 10W adapters are designed for use in a variety of home healthcare, patient monitoring, and portable medical equipment — including blood pressure monitors, respirators, and echocardiograph (ECG) machines — and can also be employed in beauty care electronics, such as: hair dryers, curling and flattening irons, and facial cleansing devices, amongst numerous others.
The new 10W adapter is compliant with several international standards for the safety and effectiveness of medical electrical equipment published by the International Electromechanical Commission (IEC), including: IEC60601-1-2 Ed4 2014, which addresses electromagnetic disturbances, requirements, and tests, and IEC60601-1:2005+A:2012 2xMOPP, which regulates means of patient protection, ensuring a minimum of 4,000VAC isolation, 8mm creepage, and double insulation.
The 10W medical grade wall-plug adapter is also compliant with both US Department of Energy (DOE) Level VI and European Union Code of Conduct (CoC) V Tier 2 energy efficiency standards, and certified to UL 60601-1 safety specifications.
The 10W PMA10R-050AW medical grade wall-plug adapter features built-in over voltage, over-current, short-circuit, over-temperature, and brown-in and brownout protections, and is available with seven different AC input clips (each sold separately) for compatibility with electrical outlets in: the US, Brazil, Europe, Korea, the UK, Argentina, and Australia.
Each adapter measures 50mm (1.97”) x 71.7mm (2.82”) x 40mm (1.57”) [L x W x H], and has a 5.5mm x 2.1mm x 10mm fork-and-groove DC plug with an inner (+V) and outer GND(-) plug pin assignment. Allowable operating temperatures for the adapter span 5oC to +40oC with up to 93% relative humidity.
