TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwanese brand name PC manufacturers Acer and ASUS yesterday announced their April revenues, and with declining revenues of 35.4% and 40%, the two companies' revenues are now at their lowest levels for this year.
Acer's revenue in April was NT$14.432 billion, which was 35.4% lower than their March revenue and their lowest monthly revenue in nearly a year. ASUS's group revenue was NT$27.1 in April, which was a monthly reduction of 40% and a yearly reduction of 7%.
The two companies' revenues for the month of April both sharply declined, and this is mainly a result of entering the traditional low-season for sales. In addition, there was also a lack of new products to stimulate sales.
ASUS stated that Q2 is when the season for replacing old smart phones with new ones begins, and this season is traditionally a slow season for the computer industry. In fact Q2 is expected to be the lowest point in this year's operations.
As for Acer, at the end of April they launched a new series of products in New York which includes notebook computers, gaming screens, projectors, and smart watches in hopes that it will be able to stimulate sales in the low season.
