Global Unichip Corp. (GUC) today unveiled a new Flash ADC IP and a current steering DAC IP. Both provide a 3.6GHz sampling rate and SNDR > 35db that can be used as an I/Q channel receiver or transmitter in a WiGig system. With these high-speed AD/DA IP available, GUC now offers industry’s most complete data converter IP portfolio targeting TSMC processes, ranging from 16nm to 0.13μm.

GUC’s data converter IP product line covers pipelined, wide bandwidth sigma-delta, successive approximation, and audio bandwidth sigma-delta topologies for communications receiver, display, sensor, AUX, meter, monitor and audio/voice applications. All IPs use standard logic process and demonstrates very competitive area. GUC also provides customization service to optimize design for customer’s specific application.

The new offering is a sigma-delta audio codec IP that features a 95db dynamic range and contains gain/volume control line/microphone inputs, stereo sigma-delta ADCs and stereo DACs; stereo line drivers and headphone outputs. A standard I2S serial interface is also available.

The signal-to-noise ratio reaches 90db for record path and 95db for play back path. Power down control, analog volume control and soft mute functions are supported. The audio code IP is available on TSMC’s 28HPM process with 1.8V supply appropriate for low power application.

“We want our Data Converter IP portfolio to provide a total solution for analog front-end systems, including audio and high precision systems, low power application, and communication receiver and transmit functions that meet LTE and WiGig specification. We must also provide flexible customization service, along with this high performance IP portfolio, if we are going to be a critical component in our customers’ successes,” said Jim Lai, President of GUC.

GUC’s in-house IP portfolio includes DDR, high-speed SerDes, data converter, hardened ARM core, and multimedia IP. GUC’s IP eco-system provides the flexibility to work with IP from GUC, TSMC and other vendors, creating the widest range of design options.
