Powered by a dual-core Intel Core i7-4650U processor integrated with an intelligent vehicle power management system and the dual CAN bus interface for vehicle diagnostics, TREK-688 also features extensive built-in RF technology that facilitates real-time communication, vehicle tracking and positioning (with dead reckoning), and data collection.

An embedded Stretch S7 video encoding chip supports up to 16 analogcamera input channels and 8 audio inputs, providing a cost-effective video surveillance solution. TREK-688 also boasts intelligent video analytics capabilities that support the integration of additional technologies, such as a lane departure warning system, forward collision warning system, and pedestrian detection system, to further enhance vehicle and driver safety.

Compliant with EN60721-3(5M3), SAE J1455 and MIL-STD-810G specifications for shock/vibration resistance and featuring a wide operating temperature range (-30 ~ 55 °C), TREK-688 is a comprehensive in-vehicle computing solution with the durability to withstand operation in extreme environments, making it the ideal system for law enforcement, emergency service, and public transportation fleets, particularly eBus and bus rapid transit (BRT) systems.

TREK-688 features an Intel Core i7-4650U processor, up to 8GB of DDR3L memory, and dual external HDD/SSD trays with key lock protection, giving it the capabilities to handle complex, computation-intensive applications. The intelligent vehicle power management system with E-mark certification provides vehicle diagnostics, vehicle power monitoring and protection, programmable power functionality (ignition on/off, delay on/off, and low battery monitoring), customized wakeup events (wake-on-call, G-sensor, RTC alarm, and DI), and remote firmware updates.

An embedded CAN controller supports the dual CAN bus interface and several configurable protocols, including Raw CAN, J1939, OBD-II (ISO 15765) and J1708 (support J1587) for superior vehicle diagnostics monitoring in diverse and challenging environments. From a management perspective, TREK-688 offers an intelligent platform for collecting vehicle diagnostics and driving data, such as engine speed, braking, and fuel level, allowing fleet managers to assess the vehicle status and conduct real-time driver coaching.

For video surveillance, TREK-688 is equipped with an embedded Stretch S7 video encoding chip that supports up to 16 analog camera input channels and 8 audio inputs. In additionto video recording, storage, and streaming, this chip reduces the overall CPU load and processing time, ensuring smooth operation.

With the inclusion of intelligent video analytics capabilities, TREK-688 can also be integrated with advanced driver assistance systems such as a lane departure warning system, forward collision warning system, and pedestrian detection system for providing valuable alerts and ensuring driving safety at all times.

Rich built-in RF features, including WLAN, WWAN (GPRS/HSDPA+/LTE), GPS and Bluetooth enable vehicle trackingand positioning, as well as real-time data transmissions and seamless communication via WWAN roaming (supported by a dual SIM card switch). The default system I/O includes a line-out, mic-in, RS-232, RS-485, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and isolated DI/DO ports located at the rear of the device for convenient access and easy maintenance.

TREK-688 can be easily paired with a TREK-303/306 in-vehicle smart display via a single-cable connection. The five physical function keys on the front of the displays are user programmable, enabling drivers to access and review stored data.

To facilitate customization, TREK-688 is equipped with Advantech’s MRM SDK, a software API layer that provides programmatic access to all hardware interfaces and internal modules, such as the power management, enable/disable, digital I/O control, brightness control, and hotkey function modules. Using MRM SDK and sample codes, applications can be configured to respond to specific event triggers, thereby optimizing and automating operations for increased productivity and efficiency.

Advantech’s MRM SDK also supports the voice recognition VOAC software engine for implementing touch-less, voice-controlled operation to further enhance driver safety. Advantech’s MRM SDK enables system integrators to interact with the hardware directly, reducing system development time and easing product deployment. Using industrial-grade components, TREK-688 delivers multiple fleet management and in-vehicle surveillance functions in a compact, easy-to-use, fanless vehicle monitoring system that provides the ideal solution for local, regional, and long-haul fleet management.
