The transmitter is equipped with an integrated exciter backup battery, a feature that is unique in this class. With the battery, mains voltage interruptions of up to 10 seconds do not result in a reboot of the transmitter, keeping off-the-air time to a minimum. Most components can be easily replaced by the customer. Service personnel can perform troubleshooting on site quickly and easily without requiring the transmitter to be returned to the manufacturer. This is possible because defective components can be replaced with minimum calibration and test effort. The R&S TLU9 thus substantially reduces costs. In addition, the R&S TLU9 shares components with other transmitters of the R&S Tx9 generation, simplifying spare parts handling if transmitters from multiple R&S Tx9 families are used.
