3D perception (3DP), announced the installation of its Northstar immersive visual display solution for ETC Simulation’s (“ETC”) incident command simulator at Concordia University’s new Homeland Security Simulation Center in Portland, Oregon, USA.

A 180-degree immersion theater provides an on-scene view to incident commanders of disaster management teams, training with ETC’s Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (“ADMS”) suite. The multi-projector, large field-of-view display provides trainees with lifelike, life-sized engagement into a multitude of real-time emergency situations ranging from traffic accidents to a terrorist attack involving chemical releases.

The Simulation Center will be available for rental to groups outside the university and beginning this fall, ADMS will be integrated into the main curriculum for the Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Programs at Concordia University.

“The goal of Concordia’s Homeland Security degree is simple: to provide our students the knowledge, skills and leadership abilities they’ll need in their homeland security and emergency management careers and to prepare servant leaders to change the world,” said Scott Winegar, Concordia’s Director of Homeland Security.

“By offering this hands-on learning experience, we are bridging the gap between classroom theory and real world experience.”

3D perception’s advanced Northstar visual display solution combines an advanced rack-mount multi-projector display processor, nBox, with 3DP Certified Projectors and image auto-alignment technologies in the form of Aurora sensor-instrumented smart screens, or StarScan, a screen-independent, precision 3D scanner and imager. Northstar is Image Generator (IG) independent and requires no software on or modification to the users IG.
