Femtocells are designed for indoor and outdoor use in residential, small business and enterprise environments. These small-cell base stations are used by service providers to extend their coverage, increase capacity and improve quality-of-service in areas where macro base stations are not feasible. Making femtocells financially viable for the consumer market means they must have a low per-unit cost and be produced in high volume with a low cost-of-test.

Designed specifically for high-volume manufacturing test floors, the E6650A EXF enables users to scale their solution over time to address changing test capability and capacity requirements. Validated with Qualcomm Technologies' FSM99xx chipset series, manufacturers gain time-to-market advantages by using the EXF with associated reference drivers and automation software.

"Keysight is fully committed to providing femtocell manufacturers with tools to meet its production test requirements," said Satish Dhanasekaran, marketing manager at Keysight's Microwave and Communications Division.

"The EXF not only scales to meet the needs of manufacturers over time, but it also uses common measurement algorithms from R&D test tools to enable a smooth transition into manufacturing. Now, with support for Qualcomm Technologies' FSM99xx chipset series, we are giving manufacturers the tools needed to quickly and reliably accelerate to full-volume production."
