For its size, the system packs a number of I/Os and capabilities that are not found currently on the market. Among them are 2 x LAN ports, 6 x USB ports (4 of which are USB 3.0), 2 x 4K-ready DisplayPort, Wi-Fi connectivity (via optional module), and wide voltage support (12 V – 19 V). Any expansion needs are catered for with the system’s M2 and Mini-PCIe interface as well as reserved COM and USB headers on the board.

On top of physical means of cooling in the form of an aluminum heat sink/chassis, the system utilizes Intel’s Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (Intel DPTF)- a technology for adjusting performance based on temperature- to improve the system’s overall thermal management through temperature/performance balancing. A fanned variant of the system (named NANO-001F) is also available. The board which powers the system, the NITX-BD1, can be purchased separately.

“The NANO-001N is the first Embedded PC in AAEON’s offerings to leverage the small size of the Nano-ITX board, and combines it with a powerful CPU and exhaustive I/O capabilities” said Cindy Hsieh, Product Manager of AAEON’s Industrial PC Division“ with this compact system, many indoor applications, like vending machines, kiosks, and digital signage, are set for a makeover”.
