MICROTEST Launched 8740 Cable/Harness Tester To Provide the Multi-Point Wire Test Application

MICROTEST Corporation, the manufacturer in the measurement solution industry, announced that new 8740 cable/harness tester has been overall listed. 8740 cable/harness tester adopts the new technology of embedded central processing system ARM 9.

It's working frequency up to 400MHz almost reaches the smart phone operation speed efficiently, and is ten more times faster than the old type traditional CT8681 model in the market.

ARM9 is a fast multi- processing system chip that work in with high-capacity of NAND Flash Memory IC. It provides several interface controls, supports USB, RS232, Printer, and the image signal processing technology which simplifies the traditional MPU that has to collocate the complicated circuits of various functional IC, reduce the heat energy consumption and external power interference, and increase the stability of the machine.

MICROTEST 8740 cable/harness tester utilizes the high end 32Bit True-RMS DSP (digital signal processor) in the measurement technology and is quite different from the ADC (analog to digital converter integrator) that is used in general measurement. Not only promotes the precision with 32-bit data resolution, but also accelerates the AC signal processing to save a lot of times.

The AC signal used in wire testing included the capacitance measurement, single-end testing, NG of A / B side judgement, as well as the AC voltage withstand and current leakage, etc. To ensure the stable and precise measurement as well as to save times in AC high voltage processing and leakage current testing. It is twice more faster than CT8681.

As adopts the image control function of the embedded processing system, the display screen refresh time only one fourth of that uses the general LCD driver. 8740 USB interface could be used to upload / download the files and store the testing data in the moment of offline. Besides, RS232 interface could be used to connect the computer to do the real-time data processing and monitoring.

Moreover, 8740 specially installs the high-voltage and electrostatic protection circuits at each test point which enable to withstand the high voltage shock of itself and the continuous impact of the electrostatic up to 4KV caused by plug in/out at random during testing;it completely comply with the regulation of the European industrial electronic products.

The tester provides Earphone jack, and the sound could be adjusted by selecting System Setup (SYS) / System Environment/choose [5] Sound volume on the option of to avoid causing interference in a noisy environment.

MICROTEST 8740 cable/harness tester is not only applied to test various wires, connectors, PC board but also able to do efficient one-time test for the integrated product of the cable and connector combination with PCB elements. It could do completed test for the single-end semi-finished wires or the multi-joint finished products as well.

8740 can also support the multiple DUT testing of the simultaneous measurement and the sequential measurement. By using the remote port control to collocate the automated production line to carry out the final product inspection, reduce the manpower requirement, shorten the inspection time, and promote the productivity.

Another special function of the tester is aimed to the cable connectors (ex: structural symmetry USB C-type connector) that they are difficulty to tell from the directional interface obviously. The tester will provide the chosen function of combination determination with normal / reverse plugin of connectors setting.

Therefore, no matter the normal or reverse plug in of the A/B end connector, the tester could work to measure normally.

To comply with the customer requirement, the new generation of MICROTEST 8740 cable/harness tester adds several convenient functions: After finishing the O/S learning, the net points will be automatically guided to the element editing table to easily for user to edit the elements;in the high voltage setting mode, it could be changed the DC insulation function into DC voltage withstand function and would change the insulation resistance into leakage current automatically.

Refer to the quality control, there are more than 90 percent components of 8740 imported from the US and Japan. All of the basic elements of IC adopts surface mount material. To guarantee the good quality, we imported the high-end Japanese equipment for manufacture inspection by ourselves without outsourcing.

For the customer service, it has to dismantle the machine case and then replace the EPROM once it happened to upgrade the program version or to increase the special programs function in the past time, contrarily, 8740 uses the USB interface to change the program only.
