Axiomtek Upgrades COM Express Basic Type 6 Module CEM500 with Intel Xeon CPU, CM236 Chipset

Axiomtek is announcing its new version of the CEM500, which is now supported the 14 nm Intel Xeon processor E3-1505M v5 with Intel CM236 chipset. The Intel Xeon-based CEM500 supports ECC DDR4-2133 memory up to a total of 32GB. Four SATA-600 with RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 are available for enhancing storage reliability, capacity, and performance.

With its outstanding computing performance and low power consumption design, the industrial-grade Intel Xeon-based COM Express Basic Type 6 is targeted at telecommunication, medical imaging, digital signage, gaming machines, military, human machine interface, industrial automation controllers and Industrial IoT applications.

“The Axiomtek CEM500 offers a great range of processor choices with the Intel Xeon E3, Intel Core family processors and expansion capabilities which allow developers to configure their solutions based on specified performance requirements. ECC memory is supported by module utilizing the Intel Xeon processor E3-1505M v5 and Intel CM236 chipset,” said Yifei Wang, product manager of PM Division at Axiomtek.

“The rugged COM Express computer-on-module Basic Type 6 supports an industrial operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C for applications in extreme harsh environments. The Intel Skylake-based CEM500 comes with the outstanding Intel Gen 9 HD Graphics enables this module to drive multiple 4K displays without the need of a discrete graphics card. Besides, it provides three independent displays via three DDI channels supporting HDMI/DisplayPort/DVI and a LVDS interface, while an optional embedded DisplayPort (eDP) is also available. Axiomtek also offers an optional CEB94006 baseboard that provides ports for most of the CEM500’s I/O.”

The Axiomtek CEM500 comes with serial signaling protocols, including one PCIe x16 v3.0, eight PCIe x1, four SATA-600, one Gigabit Ethernet supporting Wake-on-LAN, PXE Boot ROM with Intel i219LM Ethernet controller, one HD audio linked to baseboard, one LPC interface, one SPI interface, one I2C interface, 4-channel Digital I/O, eight USB 2.0, and four USB 3.0. The module runs on +12V or +5VSB power with both AT and ATX modes.

To ensure reliability and stability, hardware monitoring, TPM, Watchdog Timer and AMI uEFI BIOS with Intel Active Management Technology 11.0 are supported. AXView 2.0, Axiomtek’s intelligent remote management software, is also available for the CEM500.
