Everlight Electronics Chair Robert Yeh stated that Everlight Electronics has won the patent war, and this will be considerably helpful for Everlight Electronics in the European market, where they can develop the lighting and backlighting markets in the future.

As for the Japanese market, Robert Yeh stated that during the patent war, Nichia Corporation’s share of the patents was declared invalid. As a result, the scope of their patents shrank. However, Everlight has found a substitute in Japan, which will be helpful to Everlight Electronics’ future development in the Japanese market.

Furthermore, for this expansion plan Everlight Electronics has already issued NT$5 billion in convertible bonds. According to Robert Yeh, Everlight issued the convertible bonds mainly in response to expansion capital needs. An estimated investment of NT$10 billion in three years will be the largest scale expansion in Taiwan’s LED industry.

Robert Yeh also emphasized that LED is an industry with very large growth and definite market demand. Consequently, Everlight Electronics will conduct a large-scale expansion.
