The mobile DRAM price reductions have eased due to the increased number of smartphone and tablet shipments, not only has Winbond electronics changed its mainstream product into mobile DRAM, along with Nanco Electronics, ProMOS electronics, and Powerchip electronics all strive at producing mobile DRAM for 4G/LTE Basebands, for the view of getting profit.

Now the smartphone and tablet all embedded with larger mobile DRAM, the shipment performances of small density DRAM have become increasingly weaker.

The feature of mobile DRAM is high-efficiency and low power consumption, also considerably extending the duration of usage for mobile device. Mobile DRAM also offers additional benefits of higher memory densities and operating speeds resulting in faster data transfers for the device.

According to a market report from DRAMeXchange, a research division of TrendForce, mobile DRAM will reach 36% in worldwide DRAM market share, while the market share of traditional DRAM for personal computers will only be 30 percent in 2014. Moreover, another sources also shown the mobile DRAM bit demand is going to ramp up 25%, and will officially surpass the PC/server use DRAM in 2014.

The overall DRAM market, which consists of PC/server use DRAM, and niche-market memory, revenues from the sales of DRAM chips will not only rebound in 2013, but also continue their growth next year on the back of rising smartphone and tablet sales.

Nevertheless, the value of DRAM chip production is expected to increase 32.5 percent from one year ago to US$35.2 billion this year, after contracting 24.6 percent and 9.8 percent in 2011 and 2012, respectively, DRAMeXchange, said in a recent research note.
