Handheld devices are getting thiner and thiner, the key feature falls on the capacitive touchscreen, whether it's made from single Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) or double ITO makes the difference.

MStar Semiconductor Inc unveiled its single ITO capacitive, for those firms who used single ITO for their handheld devices may enjoy sizing down a portable and tablet device without sacrificing its display size. It will be also helpful for saving space on stand-alone or embedded displays.

In other words, single ITO capacitive is notable for its slim border formed with etching technology, also ideal for lowering the cost of touchscreen module. By doing so, MStar Semiconductor Inc tends to use single ITO capactitive to replace the traditional double or multipul ITO capacitive.

However, touchscreen controllers IC is the new product line of MStar, its initial single ITO capacitive IC solution supported 3.5 to 4.5-inch screen display, and the official shipment was in Q2 2012, which is very popular in China in terms of the amount, 8 billions of touchscreen controllers IC has been shipped in the first six months of this year.

MStar Semiconductor Inc stated that the company will keep developing touchscreen controllers IC, supporting larger screen by the single ITO capacitive IC solution.
