Diversification to Survive: Wistron Developed Educational Cloud Service

Diversification to survive, Wistron Corp., the world's third-largest laptop contract maker, also an important Technology Service Provider (TSP), signed agreements Monday with National Central University (NCU) and the state-funded Institute for Information Industry (III) to build educational cloud services.

The so-called TSP covers education, digital family, and the applications for small and medium-size enterprises, and educational cloud services are part of which.

Educational cloud services and e-learning are not new concepts in Taiwan, however, the Combination of Industry, Official and University has not been worked together that tight and match before, which resulted in that as if the technology of cloud services hasn't been put it into practice.

The key feature is “Course Map” system that helps students organize their learning schedules more efficiently, as well as an “e-Portfolio” system that allows them to save and review their study records on cloud servers.

In addition, as long as students graduated the “e-Portfolio” will directly become as part of their resume. Wistron also offers the complete Software as a Service (SaaS), namely, Service Level Agreement (SLA), Cloud Storage Service, System and Platform Maintenance, and Security Operation Center.

In addition, the company is going to further reinforce its laptop, desktop and LCD monitor divisions as the global PC market decreased, while continuing to expand its components division, which includes touch components, optical display modules and green recycling.
